Is geo-engineering morally permissible?
Kantians believe in the view of universalizability, which is the idea that if you did that action and put it in the world where everyone followed your maxim, then would the goal of your action be achieved?
The action of geo-engineering is definitely universalizable because the goal of preventing short-term effects of climate change would be accomplished
According to this theory then the action is morally permissible
Negative responsibility may seem like it would allow geo-engineering because we would be correcting the mistakes we made so we are responsible for it
However, what about the potential long-term effects that could occur because of geo-engineering, are we morally responsible for those?
According to negative responsibility we are and a problem arises because the people who impose geo-engineering may not be around a few years later so who will tak responsibility of it?
