There would be a value destroyed because the complex ecosystem is inhabited by various lifeforms. If we destroy the environment, we destroy these lifeforms as well.
Since the species living there are non-sentients, there is nothing to value the environment so the environment itself has no value.

Non-sentient beings are not capable to value this environment, but because these species still unconsciously depend on this environment to survive, their lives are dependent on this ecosystem. Thus, the dependency of these organisms gives this environment a value.
