Topic: Infanticide in Inuit Tribes From my perspective, this is an example of cultural relativism. Consider the special circumstance in Inuit tribes, it is almost different from other regions which regard the killing of infants as immoral. Because the living conditions in Inuit tribes are very harsh and severe, so it is reasonable for people there to limit the population. By doing this way, the people who stay alive can have enough resources, like food, water, etc.,to maintain their lives. Therefore, the society can be stable and balanced. So, the rules and norms are totally based on the situation that one region are experiencing. The moral rightness and wrongness of the killing of infants is determined by the region’s cultural norms, codes and practices. This could be an example of cultural relativism.
