Both topics I want to integrate Hegel’s dialectics to explore two extreme sides of each environmental issue (thesis and antithesis) as well as a (not necessarily) finalized solution (synthesis) to the environmental problems addressed.
Option A: Overgrazing
Context: environmental damage done by overgrazing and animal ethics
hundred years ago, human stopped starving cuz livestocks
now, go vegetarian/vegan?
Response: overgrazing != improper grazing. We need regulations and the system to change
Option B: Energy
Context: pollution done by fossil fuels, continuous use of fossil fuels permissible? We need an alternative -- green energy.
Disruption: rising green energy solutions are not going to save humans.
Response: green energy is not the ultimate and efficient alternative solution. Human beings need a combination of both, taking advantage of our resources wisely.
