Krish is a internation student from Delhi, India. Currently a freshman at BU studying Economics and pursuing a minor in Business Administration. His post graduate goals are a little undecided and depend on what field he would like to concentrate in. As of now he is considering MBA or MS econ. I think your topic is interesting but there's a lack of positives aspects of surveillance. Although people think surveillance in a negative light, I think it's actually beneficial for society. Many people would be reluctant to do certain deeds knowing that they are being watched which would reduce crime rates. For example, if a child was kidnapped, we could look at the surveillance for some info, which would increase public safety.
Hi Krish, I found your final paper topic intriguing. You also provide valid evidence to support your argument on how surveillance impacts people's behavior while being watched. I do agree with you on the view that people don't understand what they are truly consenting to and it is an important point to elaborate on while building your argument on how human rights are not fully given to individuals and humans can be used as tools to achieve either political or commercial purpose. If you want to relate it to Kant's view you can probably explain how people are being used to make profits in corporations or businesses since some surveillance for government can be beneficial to citizen safety.
